What inspires you? I am passionate about art and the act of painting. Drawing inspiration from daily scenes, people, landscapes, cinema, fashion, and other artists, I strive for a vibrant depiction of an inner realm, aiming for an ambiance that transcends the ordinary and realistic. My art represents the essence of a moment, an emotion, a vision, blending the familiar with the mysterious.

I am captivated by the intensity of expressionism, as seen in Edvard Munch's work, the simplification and abstraction of the Fauvists like Henri Matisse, the boldness and graphic nature of Banksy's street art, and the contemporary pop-art of the Connor Brothers. I also appreciate the textured brushwork of Vincent van Gogh, the luminosity of Matthew Wong, the atmospheric landscapes of the Group of Seven, Marlene Dumas' fluid portrayal of faces, the dramatic chiaroscuro of Rembrandt van Rijn, Frida Kahlo's intimate narratives, and Edward Hopper's cinematic scenes. These attributes from admired artists significantly influence my work.

In my process, I prefer to paint quickly, alla prima, using oil on canvas. This approach compels me to make swift choices, connecting deeply with my intuition and demanding acute focus during creation. Consequently, I produce a new painting roughly every week, balancing this with my other obligations. I adopt the pseudonym Magnolia Wood, distinguishing my artistic identity from my professional and personal life.
